Every year Tivoli Gardens (or simply Tivoli) lets a Danish artist design the poster art for the coming season.
The poster is an advertisement for Tivoli and was made for the Russian market as it says Copenhagen in Cyrillic letters below "Tivoli".
The art for the poster of 1972 was created by Richardt Branderup who created a series of Tivoli advertisements mainly with a single figure as motif and many of them looks very joyful. Branderup has been employed as the fairground artist and designer in Tivoli for decades. He is also the designer of the fine plates in Tivoli series.
The Tivoli Gardens is one of the world most famous amusement parks. The park is the second oldest amusement park in the world and is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and is by far the most visited spot in Scandinavia.
The image shows a young girl which is dressed in quite old fashioned way (who looks a bit like Little Red Riding Hood) with a very expectant look. Maybe she dreams of a trip to Tivoli or maybe she is inside Tivoli and having a good time? Behind her is the Japanese tower and the The Pantomime Theatre and in the air is a couple of balloons flying out in the Copenhagen night sky.
