Every year Tivoli Gardens (or simply Tivoli) lets a Danish artist design the poster art for the coming season.
The art for the poster of 1991 was created by Naja Salto (1945) who originally was educated as a weaver but since the 1990s she also painted. Salto's favorite motifs is the ocean, flowers and the sky and she often uses strong colors which is clearly seen on this poster.
Tivoli Gardens is one of the world's most famous amusement parks. The park is the second oldest amusement park in the world and is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and is by far the most visited spot in Scandinavia.
The image displays the famous flower gardens in Tivoli painted in the pattern of the traditional dress of Harlequin - a fictive figur with strong bonds to Tivoli. In the background is the magical multi-colored lights of the gardens which gently carves out waves of light in the night sky.
