This great poster is an advertisement fom the Tivoli Gardens Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Before the museum closed it was had a dedicated exhibition on the old amusement park as the old carousel horse on the poster displays. Tivoli open its gates to the public in 1843 which makes the park the second oldest amusement park in the world. One would might argue that Tivoli is a museum in itself.
The Tivoli museum closed in 2007 because the amusement park wanted to use the premises for entertainment options. Today the exhibition features an exhibition dedicated to the famous fairy tale writer, Hans Christian Andersen.
The museum features "live" stories with sound and light effects - in addition to the tales you can hear the poet tell his life story from his early childhood to his many travels around the world. Handwritten manuscripts and numerous props that were important to him is also on display.
All in all this is a great vintage poster from with a romantic image that lets one think of the magic of the Tivoli Gardens.
