A blast of colors. Harlequin famous diamond pattern is making a nice firework of red, green, yellow, purple, orange and many nuances.
The multi-colored scenery displays one of the most import figures of the Tivoli Gardens - the famous pantomime roles of Harlequin who along with Columbine and Pierrot are strong characters associated with the magical Tivoli Gardens.
Tivoli Gardens is one of the world most famous amusement parks based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The garden was founded in 1843 which makes it is the second oldest amusement park in the world and is by far the most visited spot in Scandinavia.
The poster was made by legendary Erik Stockmarr - an artist with a capital "A". Stockmarr only produces a few posters but was very recognized in the mountain of artists in mid-century Denmark. Stockmarr also made several circus poster poster and his original posters are often sold as “circus poster classics” at various auctions. This poster is one of Erik Stockmarr's last posters as he passed away in 1963. So I believe the poster is from the early 1960s but it could be a bit older than that.
