"Do not hang yourself in trifles - hang yourself in rope from Randers" - so says an old adage in Jutland, Denmark.
Whatever that means I hereby give quite a unique and rare lithographic poster. The poster is advertisement for Randers rope factory which is trying to sell you steel wire rope for ships.
Randers Reb - today Randers International a/s - was founded in 1840 and is based in northern Denmark and still produces steel wires for many different reasons. Among the clients are the fishing industry, armed forces around the world and even playgrounds.
By looking at the image you are set in the position of being the cliffhanger on a ship in a stormy weather about to collide with another ship. This is without a doubt a true artistic gem from the 1940s - a gem with a few light signs of ageing like and person born in that decade (see details below).
Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions.
