A beautiful and healthy cow advertises this years Cattle Show in Copenhagen, Denmark.
From 1938-67 the area of Bellahøj north of Copenhagen hosted an annual cattles how (dyrskue).
A cattle show (dyrskue) is a temporary market site where (mainly) farmers join in to network, talk about and buy/sell animals of all kinds. It is quite common that for example a tractor company also but a few tractors on display and there might be some entertainment and food markets too.
In the bottom the poster encourages people to use the Danish State Railways and the poster also has a piston from a traffic service in the lower right corner. The priston says that the poster should be removed from the station 4th of July 1949. Quite authentic.
The poster was made by the legendary Danish poster artist Aage Sikker Hansen (1897-1955) who also created some of the most iconic poster in Danish poster history including advertisements known as "Cirkel Kaffe" and "Davre Gryn". His posters are often made using only pencil and charcoal which makes his images quite detail rich with many textures and shades.
This poster poster makes no exceptions to Sikker Hansens stylish line. A very cute cow with friendly eyes decorates this vintage poster which overall has a quite calming expression.
