I am very pround to have this art deco advertisement in my store.

The poster was made to advertise a swimming pool in Copenhagen (Denmark) called Frederiksberg Svømmehal (Frederiksberg Swimming Pool).

During the 1920s and 1930s, the global health trend also came to Denmark and many bathing facilities and swimming pools where constructed to maintain public sanitation at some level. Frederiksberg Swimming Pool in functionalism style was constructed in 1931-1934 (so the poster is hardly older than 1934). The swimming pool still exists today and is open to the public.

The poster displays a woman wearing a white bathing suit swimming alone the gentle dark blue water. Her red bathing cap with the reflecting light really shows of how well the artist knew his color balance. The top of her arms har covered in the water and so are her legs and its almost like if she could be a mermaid. Imagination are very welcome - after all Denmark has a long history of mermaids.

I tried to find a similar version of this poster online but I could only find reproductions. Please let me know if you find a similar one - original like this one of cause.

Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions.
